Design Concept

This floating glass staircase was designed as a centerpiece for a high-end seaside villa in Xiamen. The goal was to create a weightless, transparent aesthetic while ensuring structural integrity and safety. 

Key Construction Challenges & Solutions

1. Hidden Structural Support System

· The staircase appears to "float" due to pre-embedded carbon steel square tubes inside the walls.

· Challenge: Precise alignment was critical to avoid visible fixings.

· Solution: Laser-leveled installation and reinforced wall anchors.

2. Ultra-Clear Glass Treads for Maximum Transparency

· The 5+5+5mm laminated glass provides strength while minimizing visual obstruction.

· Challenge: Preventing deflection under load while maintaining a slim profile.

· Solution: Edge-polished, tempered glass with structural silicone bonding.
3. Sleek Glass & Stainless Steel Railing

· The 6mm glass panels and 40mm stainless steel posts complement the staircase’s modern look.

· Challenge: Ensuring rigidity without bulky supports.

· Solution: Stainless steel clamps with hidden fasteners for a clean finish.
